Clearing begins for Bryan County Bark Park

A loud and proud step for a grass roots effort to bring a dog park to life happening these past couple of day.

Clearing has begun for the Bryan County Bark Park. The county donated the land behind at the sports complex but it's been long fundraising campaign to turn the rugged terrain into something a terrier and it's owner can use.

The weather hasn't helped either.  Jane Honnor, owner of PawParazzi, and Vice President of the Bark Park says it's been a lot of behind the scenes work.

"Now the land's been cleared we're really happy that we can see and the community can see what we're doing, because before I think people were thinking, 'Well it's been a year and what have we done?'  Now you can see what we've done." Said Honnor.

Besides money, Chris Barfield of Barfield Brandon Enterprises, is donating his time and equipment.

Barfield commented on a break from clearing, "It's worth the trouble.  They're going to have a beautiful spot once it's done.  We're going to leave a lot trees up, trails, ponds, it's gonna be a beautiful spot."

Barfield Brandon Enterprises says his specialized equipment for the select clearing is perfect for the job at hand as opposed to just bulldozing all the trees. Plus, this Saturday, Interact Club from Richmond Hill High School is coming to help clear the land too.
