(CNN) - In Tennessee, an 84-year-old Catholic was sentenced to three years in jail Tuesday, charged in participating in a nuclear plant protest.

Sister Megan Rice was sentenced for charges that include destroying U.S. Government property, trespassing and injuring national defense premises.

This comes after she and two other peace activists broke into a nuclear facility, spray-painted messages and threw human blood around the building.

Two men who acted with Rice were also sentenced, both to 62-month jail terms Tuesday.

The activists say they were trying to prove a point about the danger of nuclear weapons.
