Annual Georgia Day Parade to step-off from Forsyth Park

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The re-scheduled Georgia Day Parade in Savannah will take place Wednesday. 

Thousands of costumed elementary school children will march behind their hand-made banners in commemoration of Georgia's founding in 1733.

Traffic in downtown Savannah will be affected for several hours Wednesday morning during the parade.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police will have moving road blocks in place at intersections along the parade route. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at the north end of Forsyth Park and from Bull Street, the processional will continue north toward City Hall.

At 10:45 a.m., a brief ceremony will take place behind City Hall on Bay Street. Bay Street will remain closed until about noon.
