Toledo Police say no arrests have been made after officers
followed a stolen vehicle to a Toledo apartment complex Wednesday, were the
suspect ditched the car and ran into a nearby apartment.
Police say an officer saw a suspicious vehicle without its
headlights on along Hill Avenue near McCord Road just after 4 a.m. Wednesday
morning. The officer followed the car from a distance, but did not attempt to
pull it over. Police say the suspect drove to the Oakwood Gardens apartments on
Oakfield Drive and jumped out of the car. The car drifted into a snow bank and
the suspect ran towards an apartment, police say.
Police say they found a handgun, binoculars, a flashlight
and stolen license plates inside the stolen car.
According to Toledo Police, Lucas County Sheriff's Deputies
arrived and followed the suspect's footprints in the snow to a nearby apartment
window. Police say they saw a man laying on a bed inside the apartment, but the
man did not answer the door when they knocked.
Police decided not to force their way into the apartment,
but towed the vehicle as evidence. No arrests were made.
