MADISON CO., AL (WTOC) -

Georgia and Alabama officials continue to be on the lookout for an escaped inmate considered to be armed and dangerous.

Chad Dasher escaped from the Tattnall County jail with another inmate more than three weeks ago.

Deputies in New Hope, Alabama, say they spotted Dasher, who led them on a short chase at about 1 a.m. Wednesday. He fled on foot after the SUV he was driving got stuck in the mud.

"The individual's rap sheet extends to over 30 pages. Most of the violence has been directed at law enforcement. It's our understanding that the individual is addicted to narcotics and he vehemently does not want to go back to prison. So, we certainly consider him to be armed and dangerous," warned Deputy Chris Stephens, Madison County, Alabama.

Authorities in Alabama believe Dasher is driving a black 2002 Toyota Sequoia that was reported stolen Wednesday morning in Madison County, AL.

If you know anything concerning Dasher's whereabouts, contact police immediately.
