Delivery truck spills thousands of syringes on I-95 ramp

BRYAN CO., GA (WTOC) -

Interstate 95 is all clear after 50,000 packaged syringes spilled onto an interstate exit ramp early Thursday morning.

Richmond Hill Police say a UPS truck driver lost part of his load around 3 a.m., spilling about 50,000 unopened syringes onto the ramp at Exit 87 off I-95 in Richmond Hill. The ramp was only closed for about 30-minutes while crews cleared the road.

The UPS truck driver reportedly had no idea that he lost the package of syringes and continued on his way.

Police say they will attempt to contact UPS to make them aware of what happened and to hopefully mail the syringes back to the company. Otherwise, they will dispose of them.
