SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A man convicted in the slaying of a Savannah College of Art and Design student is scheduled to be back in court Thursday.

The Georgia Supreme Court says John Andrew Adams is entitled to a new trial.

Adams and Alex Cowart were sentenced in 2011 for the 2010 slaying of SCAD student Sean Giroir during a home invasion.

The court upheld Cowart's convictions, but is sending the case back to the lower court for re-sentencing because he was improperly sentenced for two felony murder convictions when there was a single victim.

The court also reversed Adams' convictions due to the admission of certain evidence.
