EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Officials say a lockdown at Effingham County High School Thursday morning has been lifted.

A statement from the Effingham County Sheriff's Office about the lockdown was released saying, "A threat was brought to the attention of the Sheriff's Office a short time ago," Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor said. "Our number one priority is the safety of our students," he added.

Effingham officials later said that ECHS was placed on lockdown due to a bomb threat written on a note found at the school.

A full search of the school grounds was conducted and nothing was found. All students have been allowed to return to class and school will resume as normal.
