Effingham County Commission OKs resurfacing project

EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Beginning in abouttwo months, 10 miles of roads in Effingham County will be getting a majorfacelift. 

The Effingham Countycommissioners voted unanimously to resurface portions of McCall and Blue Jay roads.The estimated $3 million project isfunded by the county's 1 cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax and GeorgiaDept. of Transportation LMIG funds of $ 1.2 million.

Blue Jay Road currently servesas a major east-west corridor for moving traffic within Effingham County.McCall Road serves as a north-south connector from Blue Jay Road back toGeorgia Highway 21.

The work will be on BlueJay Road from Midland to McCall Road - and then McCall Road from Blue Jay to RalphRahn Road. That's approximately 10 miles.
