Trooper involved in fatal crash on I-95

MCINTOSH CO., GA (WTOC) -

A Georgia State Patrol trooper was involved in a fatal crash Wednesday night on Interstate 95 at mile marker 64 in McIntosh County, Ga.

A news conference was held Thursday afternoon by Col. March McDonough, commissioner of the Georgia Dept. of Public Safety.

Nighthawk Trooper Bobby Black was involved in the crash in which the front of his vehicle clipped the back of another vehicle.

Investigators said they believe 57-year-old Sue Lynn Risley of Titusville, FL., was making a legal lane change when her vehicle was clipped by Black's vehicle. Her car rolled several times. She died at the crash scene.

"I'dlike to express my sincere sorrow for Ms. Risley's family, and commit and givemy word that the Department of Public Safety will do its best and will do theright thing," said Commisioner of Georgia Public Safety Col. MarkMcDonough.

Col.Mcdonough said Black did try to help the woman after the crash by giving her CPR.

Black will remain on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
