Shots fired in Bluffton, suspect still on loose

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of shots fired to a house at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday. South Carolina Highway Patrol also responded to the call.

Shots were fired from a Chevrolet Tahoe, hitting a house. The reason for the shots fired is still unknown at this time.

A pedestrian was hit by the SUV as it sped off. That person was taken to a local hospital.

"At this time, we don't know if it was intentional or accidental as far as the vehicle hitting the subject," said Bluffton Police Capt. Joseph Manning. "That subject was taken to Savannah Medical for treatment."

The suspect is still on the loose, and he is believed to be armed with a handgun.

The vehicle and suspect was last seen on Abel and Pin Oak Street.
