SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

TheTwo Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire honored our bravest men and women inuniform Thursday night.

Eachyear The Two Hundred Club helps to support family members who have experiencedtragedy in their lives.

Theysay this is a vital opportunity to recognize those who have risked their livesin a selfless act of valor, protecting us from harm's way.

$5,000 and $10,000 rewards were given to firefighters and police officerschosen by their superiors for their heroic actions on the job.

"Weask the sheriffs and the fire chiefs of each county to submit a hero who riskedtheir lives in the line of duty," said Lowell Kronowitz, chairman of The 200Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire. "It's something, someone was shot at,someone went into a burning building, these are hero's jobs and that we thankyou for."

WTOC'svery own Doug Weathers was the emcee for Thursday night's event.
