BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

A man has been arrested in connection with shots fired on Thursday afternoon at a home on May River Road.

Bluffton police said Quaddray Dramel Gaston, 29, was arrested at about 11 p.m. on attempted murder charges.

Bluffton police assisted by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the disturbance that occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers were advised that a disturbance involved as many as 20 people was taking place and gunshots were heard. Officers arrived to find someone had been hit by a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. The person was pinned between the vehicle and the house.

Officers received information that an armed black male ran from the area. Officers quickly established a perimeter and the Beaufort County Sheriff Office's K9 team responded in an attempt to locate the suspect.

Red Cedar Elementary School was then put on lockdown and officers were stationed around the school.  Residents were alerted about the situation with an emergency notification system.

Investigators carried out search warrants on the Tahoe and the home.

Gaston admitted he was driving the Tahoe and hit someone at the scene and that he and his brother went to the home to fight several people, according to police. He did not give a reason to investigators about the reason for the fight.

Gaston was charged with one count of attempted murder and is being held the Beaufort County Detention Center. The victim remains in Savannah Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation continues. Police are interviewing potential witnesses.

Bluffton police Capt. Joseph Manning said it is isolated incident to the people involved.

Manning said the incident does not pose any danger to Bluffton residents or business owners, according to a news release.
