First flu-related death confirmed in Glynn County

The Georgia Dept. of Public Health has confirmed theflu-related death of a Glynn County man. This is the third confirmedflu-related death in the Coastal Health District.

In addition to the death in Glynn County, there have beentwo confirmed flu-related deaths in Chatham County.

 As of Feb. 15, therehave been 50 flu-related deaths in the state of Georgia.

The CDC recommends that people six months and older getvaccinated for the flu. The CDC also offers some simple tips people can enactto avoid getting and spreading the flu: cover your cough by coughing into thecrook of your elbow instead of your had, wash hands frequently with soap andwater, clean common surfaces like countertops and desks, avoid touching youreyes, nose or mouth because germs spread this way and stay home and away fromothers when you're sick.

Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuff nose, body aches,headache, chills and fatigue.
