1 dead, 2 injured in Jasper Co. wreck

Fatal wreck on Friday took the life of one and injured two more in Jasper County.

The wreck occurred between two vehicles around 6:40 p.m. on US 321 about 2.5 miles north of Tillman Road.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol officer Cpl. Bob Beres, a Ford Focus traveling southbound on US 321 crossed the center line and struck head-on to a 2005 Toyota Camry. The driver of the Ford Focus has deceased, the name is being withheld the name until a next of kin has been notified.

The passenger of the Ford, 26-year-old Virmany Johns, and the driver of the Toyota, 27-year-old Amanda Williams, were transported to Memorial University Medical Center. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time. The driver and passenger of the Ford were not wearing seatbelts at the time of impact, according to police.

The wreck remains under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol.
