Families displaced after fires in Savannah, Garden City

Fires displace Savannah and Garden City families on Saturday morning.

Fire crews responded to the fire on the 2100 block of Iowa Street before 7 a.m. on Saturday, where three adults and one child were displaced due to damage. The Red Cross provided the family with funds for temporary shelter, food and clothing.

The Red Cross responded to a second fire that occurred around 9 a.m. on Saturday on Leisure Dr. in Garden City. The mobile home suffered severe damge and displaced one adult and three children, according to the Red Cross. Funds for food were provided, the family has a place to stay.

The Red Cross encourages the public to join in support of assisting disaster victims by becoming volunteers or making a financial donation to the American Red Cross at 41 Park of Commerce Way, Building 200, Savannah, GA  31405 call (912) 651-5300.
