SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The National Council of Negro Women held their Annual Harambee Breakfast on Saturday.

Chatham County Commissioner, Priscilla Thomas, was honored with the "Outstanding Community Service Award" for 2014. Commissioner Thomas was selected in recognition for her contributions to her community, which include being an educator, a county commissioner, and a role model for young people.

"Oh, it feels wonderful, because it continues the legacy that started with Mayor (inaudible) back in 1935. Of course, this section has been around now for the past 20 years, so seeing women of this stature come to this organization, it helps us to increase them and bring them, with their gifts and talents, into this organization as well," said Estelle Mannion, Organizer of NCNW, Savannah Section.

Our very own Dawn Baker was also one of the honorees at the event.
