SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

­­­­­SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary baseball team surrendered runs in the third and ninth innings to fall 10-3 to the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon. The decision gave the Crusaders the sweep of the series as the Gents dropped their fourth straight contest.

Centenary jumped on the board first in the outing as Aaron Quintanilla and Michael Schimpf each recorded RBI giving the Maroon and White the early 2-0 advantage.

Dallas answered in third frame with six runs with the biggest blow coming off the bat of Alex Benza who drove in three runs on a double to left center. Centenary clipped the lead in half in the sixth inning as Christian Sebastien singled up the middle to plate Schimpf.

The Maroon and White posted threats in the latter innings, but couldn't push through the deficit. Dallas delivered a four-run inning in the top of the ninth to secure the win as Luciano Villanueva tripled to left center to drive in Mark Carlson and Guadencio Lucca. Villanueva later scored off a single from Trevor Keele to complete the scoring.

Chris Jones, Nic Parrott and Marc Martinez also logged hits in the contest.

Grant Debevec was saddled with his first loss of the season pitching 2.2 innings in the start. Debevec allowed six runs on three hits and recorded two strikeouts and a walk. Taylor Henry pitched 5.1 innings in relief allowing two runs on seven hits with a pair of walks and two strikeouts. Dustin Dalton tossed the final frame the Gents allowing a run o two hits. Trey Lavespere also allowed a run.

Jacob Bruns (1-2) grabbed the win for the Crusaders with 5.0 innings on the mound. Bruns allowed two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Cole Morden tossed the three frames with a run allowed and William Marshall pitched the final inning.

Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at LSU-Shreveport. First pitch is 6 p.m.
