Exchange Club of Savannah honors SCMPD employees

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Some of Savannah's finest were honored Monday.

The Exchange Club of Savannah honored four Savannah-Chatham MetroEmployees for going above and beyond the call of duty.

The Club presented plaques to 2013 Officer of the Year BarryLewis, Detective of the Year Aulmon Giles, Supervisor of the Year Lt. Dan Floodand Civilian of the Year Animal Control Christian Sutherin.

"This is not why I do what I do here, but it's nice to have therecognition and to realize there are a lot of people in this department who putin a lot of hard work and to be singled out is truly an honor," said Sutherin.

"With receiving this award is a big thanks to the community," saidLewis. "I couldn't have done roll calls in the street without the community'shelp, without businesses' help."

The Exchange Club's Award Ceremony is a tradition that dates backmore than half a century.
