Mother talks about murdered daughter

Posted: Updated:

Carolyn Holland wouldn't say much about her daughter's death.

"Don't know who. Don't know why, just senseless," she said in a voice choked in emotion.

Lori Holland, 37, died from gunshot wounds after someone shot her in her front yard just before midnight Friday night.

Carolyn Holland spoke exclusively to WTOC about her daughter's life.

"She had a bubbly personality. She was a little bitty thing, shorter than me," she explained. "She had the kindest heart and would help anybody, even people that nobody else wanted anything to do with."

She said her daughter's circle of friends might be at the root of why her daughter died. Carolyn Holland admitted her daughter had faced her share of issues, including drugs.

She said those details were painful to discuss, but she hoped her interview served as a caution to others about how they live.

"I won't get her back, but if doing this helps one person change, it's a good thing," she noted.

Meanwhile, investigators said they're looking at several leads.

"We don't see many cases like this, a 'who dun it?' around here," explained Wayne County Sheriff John Carter.

Anyone with information in Holland's murder is asked to call the sheriff's office at 912-427-5970.
