Army physical demands study underway at Ft. Stewart

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

Soldiers of the Third Infantry Division will be put to the test Tuesday as they participate in the U.S. Army's Physical Demands Study Training.

The Army has well-established standards for the tasks that combat soldiers have to do on the battlefield and these standards will not change. This study will help the Army scientifically determine what it takes physically to perform these tasks.

Male and female soldiers will perform the most physically demanding tasks while wearing test equipment that will allow researchers to monitor their performance. This will allow the scientists to develop a test that will help the Army assess if an applicant has the physical capacity to perform in certain positions.

Training will take place Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort Stewart.

The study will help the Army get the right soldier in the right job.
