EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Law Enforcement Explorers with the EffinghamCounty Sheriff's Office experienced crimes scene training Tuesday night tolearn what law enforcement officers do when they investigate a real crimescene.

The goal of the program is to give young people, who haveinterest in the career of law enforcement, an insight into the aspects of theprofession, as well as the necessary skills to obtain while in high school andfurther education.

"They are amazed at all the different little details that wehave to look at at a crime scene, and some of the monotony," said Sgt. RamseyMannon. "For the TV shows that they see and talk about, and then they actuallyget out here to do the stuff and they say ‘man, this is boring'. So they get tokind of see the real deal, to a degree."

Deputies and explorers meet for about two hours every otherTuesday. They are always accepting new applications.
