According to FBI data, violent crime in Springfield rose in the first half of 2013 when compared to the year before.
The FBI just released their Uniform Crime Report for the first half of 2013.
It revealed that violent crime rose by 6.4 percent compared to 2012.
There were six murders in the first half of 2012, but 11 during the same time period in 2013.
Property crimes like burglary and car thefts did go down 2 percent.
