Police say driver charged with driving while impaired died from injuries

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A driver charged with driving while impaired from a Feb. 6 crash died from his injuries on Friday, police say.

Ravyan Semaj Adams was driving a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria at a high speed on Trailer Driver Just around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 6 according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police say the right tires ran off the roadway onto the grass shoulder in a curve causing Adams to overcorrect and lose control of the car.

The car slid sideways crossing the double yellow line, ran off the road to the left. and the driver's side door struck a large tree, officers say.

Police say Adams was not wearing a seatbelt and was seriously hurt from the wreck.

Adams was charged with driving while impaired according to police.

Adams died at Carolinas Medical Center just before 5 p.m. on Friday from his injuries, officers say.
