Armstrong and RAD teaching women self defense

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Armstrong Atlantic State University is helping females learn how to defend themselves.

All female students, staff, and faculty were invited to learn from a nationally certified instructor from RAD, which stands for "Rape Aggression Defense". The class provides the knowledge to make educated decisions about resistance and instills confidence in everyone who participates in the program.

"I think it's very beneficial, because if you're out and someone happens to attack you then you'll know what to do, rather than being helpless like a like of people are." said Tiana Greer, R.A.D. participant.

"Everyone should have some form of self defense; whether it's our program, Karate, Tae Kwon Do. Some sort of self defense is really needed by everyone." said Lt. Joe Peny, Armstrong Atlantic Police Department.

Armstrong Atlantic teams up with instructors from Georgia Southern University, The Coastal College of Georgia, and the Department of Revenue to make the self defense classes available to the female students who may want them.
