Last week, Defense Secretary Hagel announced plans to even further reduce the size and, with it, let's be honest, the capability, of America's military force, to include, downsizing the Army to its lowest manpower-level since pre-World War II. With military budget-cuts already underway, moving, now, even more drastically down this irresponsible road, diminishes the dominance of our protective force, at a time when crazed regimes, in a nuclear-world, grow ever-more dangerous.  As George Washington reminded us: "To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving the peace." Common knowledge that the best deterrent, to the aggression of zealots, is a defensive-force so powerful, that fear of its wrath becomes a natural protector.  With its erosion, however, we incentivize aggressive-action on the part of power-thirsty states perceiving our newly-inviting vulnerabilities.

But the issue here isn't Secretary Hagel, who's simply carrying out orders.  Nor, sadly, is it about actual budget cuts.  What's really going on here, is simply more leftist-redistribution.  Only this time, at a far grander, far more dangerous level.  Diminishing our military, liberty's protective-power, done not to save money, but to transfer it to social programs, feeding the insatiable desire, this government has purposely created for handouts, then  dependency, then population control.  Referring to the DoD proposal, House Armed Services Chair, Buck McKeon warned: "There'll be a price to be paid for this.  I don't know where, I don't know when, I don't know how, but some bad actor is going to challenge us." Please contact your Senators and Congressmen to get this persistent military-erosion reversed. America's defense and freedom must never become a bargaining-chip for self-centered political gain.

Said former General, and American President, Dwight Eisenhower: "History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."  Sadly, we're being led to both.
