BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

Authorities in the Lowcountry are looking for a man who's suspected of breaking in to the Beaufort Police Dept. impound lot.

Police said several impounded cars were rummaged through and a storage shed was broken into.  Items were stolen from the shed and the vehicles.

Investigators thought the suspect would return, so they put hidden cameras around the impound lot and captured clear images of the suspect entering the lot and stealing a bicycle during the early-morning hours on Feb. 25.

Investigators used the photographs and other leads to positively identify the suspect as Donaldson. Investigators tried to locate Donaldson on Tuesday at a home on Broad River Blvd. Donaldson was not there, but several stolen bicycles that were able to be linked to him were lying in the yard in plain view, according to police.

Police said they're looking for 22-year-old Jovan Donaldson of Burton, S.C. They said he is also wanted for receiving stolen goods.

"It's not something that we would normally get a call aboutso we were pretty shocked that it had happened, hopefully we'll get the suspectsoon," said Corporal Hope Able, Beaufort Police Department.

Donaldson is known to frequent the Burton area and may be staying with relatives in the Polk Village area. If you see him, call Beaufort police at 843.525.7000.
