Hardeeville's interim manager ready for the job

HARDEEVILLE, SC (WTOC) -

One Lowcountry community has a new interim city manager.

Hardeeville City Council appointed Rose Dobson-Elliot to replace former interim manager Tom Johnson. Johnson is also the city's attorney.

Johnson took on the duty after former city manager Bob Nanni resigned last month.

Dobson-Elliot will remain interim manager for at least six months, and she said there's a lot she hopes to accomplish.

"I think we have some opportunity to do some development, for the aesthetic parts of the city," said Dobson-Elliott. "There's some landscaping propety upgrades that need to be done to make people want to get off the interstate. That's the draw, you got to get them off the interstate to spend money and stay."

Dobson-Elliot will earn about $40,000 over the six months. That's how long the town is expecting the search for a permanent city manager to take.

Dobson-Elliot isn't sure if she will apply for the permanent job just yet.
