Win a chance to become KDF Festival Fanatic, Thundernator

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky Derby Festival and Kentucky Lottery are teaming up to name someone the first-ever Festival Fanatic.

One lucky winner, as part of a second-chance promotion, will have the opportunity to claim 25 individual festival experiences ranging from VIP treatment at more than a dozen festival events to becoming the 2014 Thundernator. Each year, the Thundernator is the person who activates the fireworks to start Thunder Over Louisville, the Kentucky Derby Festival's Opening Ceremony.

"Our winner last year had an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience while getting to press the button that started Thunder," said Chip Polston, vice president of communications for the Kentucky Lottery Corporation. "The addition of 24 more amazing experiences during Derby week will only make this a more incredible prize for one very lucky Kentucky Lottery player."

To enter the contest, players must sign-in or register for a Fun Club Rewards account at kylottery.com. Once logged in, a player will be able to submit an eligible, current, non-winning $2 Kentucky Cash Ball or Kentucky's 5 Card Cash ticket for a chance to be named Festival Fanatic. A current $2 ticket is defined as one for which the last date to claim has not expired. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on March 11, 2014.

The "Festival Fanatic" drawing will take place on March 12. For a complete list of prizes, visit kylottery.com.

"Since 2014 is the 25th Thunder show and also the 25th anniversary of Kentucky Lottery, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to give someone 25 festival experiences," said Kentucky Derby Festival President and CEO Mike Berry. "We can't wait to meet the winner in March and share with them the excitement festival brings to Louisville."

Thunder Over Louisville is set for Saturday, April 12, and it will air exclusively in its entirety live on WAVE 3 News.
