Parade committee plants tree on Liberty Street

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Because the St. Patrick's Day Parade was born in downtownSavannah, the Irish have a special love and respect for the old parts of thecity.

After the greening of the fountain, the Parade Committeewent to Liberty Street where they planted a new tree in front of ParadeCommittee headquarters and the Knights of Columbus.

The tree planting is another ritual added to the parade inthis generation of the Irish.

After all that work, the men went inside the Knights ofColumbus to record the Salute to the Grand Marshal special, which will bebroadcast Saturday, March 15 at 10 p.m. right here on WTOC.
