SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Local teens got a chance to address some of the concerns that negatively impact youth in society on Saturday.

The Boys and Girls Club partnered with an alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, which advises the Savannah State chapter, to talk to young people about all sorts of issues, including drugs, teen violence, low self-esteem, suicide, and teen pregnancy, among other things. We spoke to one of the chairpersons for the Youth Symposium 2014 event about this year's motto.

"Partners for progress, building bridges for youth. It is important for everybody to take heed and understand that we need to build these bridges for youth and just hold onto them and let them know that we are here and we are supporting them," said Keyondra Gravin, Chairperson, Youth Symposium, 2014.

The Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club and Savannah State's alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority held the event.
