SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Averageretail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 0.4 cents per gallon in the pastweek, averaging $3.33 per gallon on Sunday, according to gasoline price websiteGasBuddy.com.

Thiscompares with the national average that has increased 3.4 cents per gallon inthe last week to $3.47 per gallon. The national average increased 18.5cents per gallon during the last month and stands 19.1 cents per gallon lowerthan this day one year ago.

Including the change in gas prices in Savannah during the past week, prices Sunday were 30.6 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 7.0 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

"Unsurprisingly, the surge in the national average has continued over the last week," saidGasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan in a news release."As refinery maintenance season is now in its prime, and will be forseveral weeks, motorists could see additional volatility at the pump shouldissues or unexpected problems arise with this period of maintenance. There tendto be glitches and issues restarting these plants, and the progressiveswitchover to various blends of gasoline complicates matters further. Then, asrefineries get back online, the volatility will ebb, and prices will slow theirclimb- but all of that light at the end of the tunnel remains several weeksaway," DeHaan said.
