(WMC-TV) - Zachary Adams entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment Tuesday afternoon. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping and first-degree murder in the disappearance of Holly Bobo.

Adams was escorted into the Decatur County Courthouse wearing shackles and a bullet proof vest. His family hired an attorney to represent him in court.

Adams is represented by high-profile Nashville attorney Jennifer Lynn Thompson. They will return to court on April 9.

Investigators are still searching for clues on Adams' property. Our Nashville affiliate, WSMV, reports crews were working near the home off of Highway 69 in Decatur County over the weekend.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirms Shelby County Emergency Services are helping with the investigation, but TBI did not say what they are specifically looking for. So far, investigators have not revealed a possible motive for the kidnapping and murder, or what, if any, connection Adams had with Holly.

Investigators will not say if any remains have been found, but experts say it is possible to charge someone with murder without a body.

"If they wait a lot longer, then their case could potentially get weaker," said criminal defense attorney David Raybin. "Witnesses could die, evidence could evaporate."

As he left the courtroom, Adams did not look at reporters or answer any questions.

Action News 5 was told there will most likely be a change of venue, since this is such a high-profile case. Adams is charged with capital murder and aggravated kidnapping, so if convicted, the death penalty would be on the table.

Adams was taken back to Chester County Jail where he will be held until the next hearing in April.

Attorney Steve Farese is advising the Bobo family.

"As far as the family is concerned it is just the beginning of a long process," he said.

Farese revealed details of the case should become public in roughly the next month.
