A Beaufort man who was shot Friday at a Detour Road home has been arrested on several weapons and drug charges.

Marvin Huggins, 26, was arrested Tuesday after being released from Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he was being treated for his injuries.

On March 7, Huggins was brought to the hospital Friday by a 30-year-old female acquaintance who told Beaufort County sheriff's deputies that she had been with him when he was shot. She said they had been at a house party and were standing at her vehicle getting ready to leave when she heard gunshots, according to the BCSO.

When she saw that Huggins had been hit, she took him to the emergency room. As ER staff was helped Huggins onto a stretcher, a handgun fell out of his pants, according to the BCSO. Quantities of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also found on him as he was being treated.

The drugs and gun were seized and turned over to investigators who secured warrants for Huggins for unlawful carrying of a firearm, simple possession of marijuana, trafficking crack and trafficking cocaine.

Huggins was arrested and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he was also served with an unrelated, outstanding warrant for failure to stop for blue lights. He remains in custody at the detention center, awaiting bond hearings.

The investigation into the shooting incident remains active, and no suspect(s) or motive has been identified. Anyone with information can contact either Investigator Sgt. C. Wilson at 843.255.3409 or Crimestoppers.
