Raccoon in Coffee Bluff area tests positive for rabies

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

 Araccoon near the Coffee Bluff area has tested positive for rabies. Theraccoon was captured after it got into a fight with a family dog. The dog isup-to-date on his rabies vaccination and will also receive a booster, accordingto the Chatham County Health Dept.   

Animals with rabieshave symptoms such as a change in behavior, biting, aggression, showing no fearof natural enemies (such as humans), foaming at the mouth and paralysis. 

If an animal everbites you, seek medical care immediately and contact Chatham County AnimalControl at 912.525.2408 and the Chatham County Health Department EnvironmentalHealth Division at 912.356.2160.
