KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

They're expecting about 20,000 people to attend, and a good percentage of those attendees will be in costume.

It's Planet Comicon 2014 at Bartle Hall, a great place for science fiction fans and fans of watching science fiction.

"It's amazing, and I love it. This is exactly where I want to be," Madison Bishop said.

The convention is described as the best of comics, science fiction and fantasy.

And, while this gathering celebrates fiction, the estimated $4 million Planet Comicon is expected to bring the city is definitely real.

"I was wanting to come. I'd never been before, and I figured, "why not?" said Summer Bear.

Bear traveled from Wichita to attend Comicon. She was prepared, dressing as Astrid from "How to Train Your Dragon."

From toys to T-shirts, Comicon has a little bit of everything, including celebrities. William Shatner, star of the original Star Trek, and Lee Majors of The Six Million Dollar Man, will both be on hand to meet and greet with fans and reminisce about the good ole' days, and the shows that made them famous.

Planet Comicon 2014 is open to persons of all ages. It runs through Sunday, again, at Bartle Hall in downtown Kansas City.
