Georgia Gubernatorial Candidate makes stop in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate, Jason Carter, made a stop in Savannah on Sunday.

Senator Carter visited the Savannah Ports Authorities, as he believes it is one of the most important economic drivers for our state. Carter says he is frustrated with how long the deepening project is taking, and the lack of the support from the federal government. In an exclusive interview with WTOC, Carter shared his priorities to improve the economic state of Georgia, education, and funding the ports.

"Well, I think that the folks see the record that the current governor has; the middle class is in freefall. I think folks want an honest government, and I think that people want an education system that works, and right now, we are not getting that," said Senator Jason Carter.

Carter is currently a Democratic member of the Georgia State Senate, and grandson of former President, Jimmy Carter. He will be riding in the Saint Patrick's Day parade with Senator Lester Jackson.
