Kissing tradition continues for Benedictine Cadets

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

More than 300 Benedictine Military School cadets marched in Monday's Saint Patricks Day parade, and just as in years passed, the kissing tradition continued.

While the origin of the tradition is not exactly clear, it's clear that it has been passed from generation to generation.

On Monday, you could see mothers rushing toward their sons and sisters looking for their brother. Once they found them, the planted a huge, lipstick covered kiss right on the cheek, a tradition that has been going on almost as long as the school has been around.

"My favorite part of the parade is always for the kisses from my friends and random people that come up and kiss us," said Col. Cadet Lawson Turner.

It's something that has been passed down from generation to generation. "I love it out here marching," said Steven Tilton, a Cadet Lt. Col. "My grandpa was a cadet and my dad as well they both marched in the parade as did I."
