SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Police and rescue crews responded to the scene of a crash involving a transit bus and a pedestrian in downtown Savannah.

Officials say a woman was struck by CAT bus at Oglethorpe Ave and MLK Blvd early Tuesday morning. The woman was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

"We had a CAT bus that was making a left-hand turn at the light, which collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the street. The pedestrian has been transported to Memorial, we don't know the extent of her injuries," said Savannah-Chatham Metro spokesman Julian Miller.

Oglethorpe at MLK was closed for a couple of hours while the accident was being investigated. The road has since re-opened.

WTOC is working to find out the woman's condition. Meanwhile, the accident remains under investigation.
