Dr. Varadkar spent the day meeting with representatives from the University's Center for Irish Research and Teaching, the Georgia Historical Society and other groups to celebrate the laucnch of the Wexford-Savannah Axis Research partnership after six years of development.
"We hope the project will form a foundation for more meaningful contact between Georgia and Ireland, particularly between tourism going both ways, economic operation, trade," said Dr. Varadkar. "In a lot of ways, future is built on history and that is what we are trying to do here."
Dr. Varadkar was featured in Monday's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Savannah.
