HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

James Jones, 24, of Hilton Head was arrested early Wednesday morning after brandishing a firearm at a fellow employee during an altercation.

Jones was arrested just before 1 a.m. Wednesday after allegedly threatening a fellow Burger King employee.

Witnesses said Jones got into a verbal altercation with a male co-worker shortly after beginning his late shift, and when the argument escalated, Jones pulled out a sawed off shotgun from a bag he was carrying and pointed it in the face of the victim.

Jones then threatened to kill everyone in the restaurant, but instead placed the gun back in the bag and left the restaurant. Jones then returned minutes later without the bag. He was still at the scene when deputies arrived.

A Sheriff's Office K9 was deployed and searched the area for the weapon and located a bag hidden inside the bushes outside of the restaurant.

Deputies found a Winchester MK2 shotgun with a sawed-off barrel and other personal items belonging to Jones.

Jones was arrested without incident and has been charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and second degree assault and battery.

Jones was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he remains awaiting a bond hearing.
