BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

The sixth annual 2014 Beaufort Twilight Run and Oyster Roast takes place Saturday in the Lowcountry.

More than 2,000 participants and spectators are anticipated to attend. It will be held at the Habersham marketplace from 4:30-10:30 p.m. in Beaufort. Organizers say they hope to raise over $60,000 for Riverview Charter School.

The free, public school is open to Beaufort County students in grades that range from kindergarten to eighth grade. The first race of the Beaufort Twilight Run, which is the kids' fun run, kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Don't forget about the oyster roast.

Organizers are getting ready on Friday afternoon at the Habersham properties. The proceeds benefit Riverview Charter School. In the last five years, the race has raised more than $150,000 for the school.

Organizers say they're on track to beating last year's $60,000 goal.

"Getting the word out there about Riverview Charter School for an event like this is great because they get out, they get to know the people, the students and they get to know that we're more of a family at the school rather than just a building for education," said Andrea Dixon of the Riverview Charter School.

"I love it because I get to run. Running is my favorite sport," said Charlie Bowden, Riverview Charter fourth-grader. I'm doing the 5k and the 8k this year and I'm going to have a blast."

An unseasonably warm weather pattern continues across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry through next week. What is left of a cold front sinks southward, briefly, tonight and Sunday before lifting back northward. The front produces more Sunday cloud cover and, possibly, an isolated shower or two through the day. Temperatures reach lows in the 50s and lower 60s Sunday morning, before rebounding into the 60s and 70s Sunday afternoon; coolest north and northwest of Savannah.  While...
