Savannah's Buffalo Soldiers present check to 200 Club

Posted: Updated:

The Savannah Chapter of National Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Clubs presented a check to the 200 Club of the Coastal Empire on Saturday.

The check presentation in Johnson Square was part of the Savannah Chapter's eighth annual charity event.

The 200 Club provides immediate financial assistance to the surviving spouse and children of area law enforcement officers and firefighters who lose their lives in the line-of-duty.

"I am a retired police officer with SCMPD, and I am pleased and honored to donate a check to the 200 Club for this worthy cause," said Neil Munn, Vice President of Savannah Buffalo Soldiers.

The ride started at the Holiday Inn Express on Gateway Boulevard at Ga. 204 and Interstate 95, finished up with a presentation of the check at Johnson Square. Riders paid $15 to participate.

The motorcycle club was founded to preserve the history of the Buffalo Soldiers U.S. Army regiments from 1866 to 1944. The club commemorates the 9th and 10th Calvary - the first African American units.
