Woman walking from FL to Washington, D.C., for soldiers

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A 61-year-old lady from Virginia is walking from Fort Lauderdale, FL, to Washington, D.C. She was in our area on Saturday, walking with her "Proud Protector" soldier inflatable on her back. Donna Street says she wants to let the military know that she and her family appreciate all the military does, and she wants them to know she has their back.

"It has just been absolutely wonderful. I have met a lot of people that have served in the military; some of them might have even had their legs or arms amputated and at the same time, they will say 'Donna we'd do this all over again.' That touches my heart, and it makes me want to cry, but it makes me want to hug their necks and shake their hands even more," said Donna Street, Walking for Soldiers.

Besides the walking, Donna also wants to shake hands with a million people.
