Paddle boarders attempt to break world record on Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

A world record was at stake this afternoon at Shelter Cove Marina on Hilton Head.

"We are here on Hilton Head Island setting the record for SUP Yoga and I think we are going to do it," said Amber Shadwick, participant.

On their way to do yoga on stand-up paddleboards for a world record time, 102 yogis/paddleboarders braved a short rain shower. A recording of the event goes to record setter for verification, but the goal was a half hour and, unofficially we can tell you that they made that.

The goal was to get more people familiar with the stand-up paddleboard yoga technique and to get all those yogis out on the water, rather than a studio wall.

We will let you know next week if a world record trophy is winging its way to South Carolina.
