Some K-9 friends in Savannah got the chance to sport new safety equipment yesterday. The annual Georgia Safe K-9 Project Vest Fest kicked off on River Street to promote safety awareness for our furry friends. The River Street Vest Fest is a three-day festival with public safety displays, demonstrations, and animal welfare information.
One of the newest items added to the safety list is bullet proof vests for law enforcement K-9s in our area.
"They just take their dogs home and they consider them like family, part of the squad," organizer Carmen Wise said.
Proceeds will help purchase safety equipment for K-9 units around the state.
