Opelika man turns himself in, arrested for Auburn shooting

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Jaquavious Montrell Strickland, 21, of Opelika, Ala. is now in custody after a shooting that occurred on the 600 block of Spencer Ave. on Saturday, March 22.

Officers say that when they arrived at the residence at just after 12:45 a.m. that night, they discovered a 25-year-old victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. Then, after about 30 mins., the police were notified that a second gunshot victim, a 21-year-old male, had been taken to EAMC emergency room for treatment of gunshot wounds.

The female victim was treated and released and the male victim remains at EAMC with non-life threatening injuries.

During investigation, detectives determined the shootings to be related. Strickland, who goes by "Rell", was developed as a suspect. Detectives obtained felony arrest warrants on Strickland, charging him with shooting into an occupied dwelling.

At around 10:30 a.m. today, March, 25, Strickland turned himself in, was arrested and taken into custody. He was transported to the Lee County Jail where his bond was set at $50,000.
