GREENE COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A Greene County business raided by deputies remains open but deputies seized its main attraction.

In a press release sent to FOX6 News, deputies say an anonymous tip lead them to Doc's C-Store and Grill in the 24000 block of Highway 14 Thursday, March 20. There, they found and seized more than 40 gambling machines.

Deputies witnessed the unlicensed gambling machines in plain view prompting the seizure of the machines. Sheriff Jonathan "Joe" Benison states that "as the regulator of Bingo in Greene County it is my job to ensure that Bingo rules and regulations are enforced and followed accordingly."

No arrests were made at the time of seizure.

FOX6 News went to the business this morning. Johnny Coleman identified himself as a business partner at Doc's. He tells me the former country store has been open for 5 months as an internet café. He says they had laptop computers that people could play games on and win sweepstakes but he denied they were gambling machines.

He admits they didn't have a license from the sheriff's office to operate gambling machines in the county. He says they hadn't hired a lawyer yet.
