P.F. Chang's at Cumberland Mall fails surprise health inspection

A popular Chinese restaurant encountered some problems at a location in metro Atlanta this week.

P.F. Chang's China Bistro at 1624 Cumberland Mall in Atlanta failed its most recent surprise inspection on March 10, 2014 with 60 points and a "U" for unsatisfactory.

"I called in all employees and had a big meeting to make sure they knew how to do things," P.F. Chang's head chef Cory Thornton said. "I retrained everybody."

Health inspectors cited the restaurant for having numerous unlabeled containers and Ziploc bags of food throughout the facility. The health report also states that pasta was stored on the service line at an unsafe temperature. Inspectors also observed raw chicken stored above chicken powdered seasoning in the walk-in cooler. Plus, employees were not washing their hands properly.

"I've had the chicken powder in the same place for eight months and the health department didn't cite me for it during a previous inspection," Thornton said.

P.F. Chang's at Cumberland Mall was re-inspected on March 24, 2014 and received 100 points and an "A."

"All problems have been rectified and fixed," Thornton said.
