Trial of Georgia soldier in wife's death continues

FORT STEWART, Ga. (AP) - Closing arguments are scheduled to begin Thursday morning in the trial of a Georgia Army soldier accused in the death of his pregnant wife.

A military judge heard dueling opinions from medical experts during the court-martial Wednesday on what likely killed the wife of 22-year-old Isaac Aguigui.

Aguigui of Cashmere, Wash., told investigators he found Sgt. Dierdre Aguigui dead on the couch inside their apartment at Fort Stewart the night of July 17, 2011. A military autopsy found no proof of an attack, but a Georgia state medical examiner concluded that she had been strangled.

The defense's medical expert said that Aguigui's wife may have had a sudden heart attack and had a history of having an elevated heart rate.
